OTCTA 2008 Annual Meeting

We had a great time at the 2008 annual meeting, the Otter staff put out some good food and Dave Bergman from MN tourism talked about what to look for in the future. It was nice to see so many members, here are a few that made it:

Muriel & Vern Foster – Twin Lake Landing Resort

Patrick & Karen Kilby- Sugar Creek Woodworking

Ron & Pat Sugden- Bonnie Beach Resort

Howard & Kathy Manteuffel- Limmers Resort

Jim & Evie Roehl- Elm Haven Resort

Cheryl & Mike Harris- Northern Lights Resort

Wes & Tres Jeltema- Shady Grove Resort

Jim & Linda Buchanan-The Otter Supper Club

Bud Narverson- Woodlawn Resort

Wade & Hollie Milles- Sand Bay Resort

Sandy Volkman-Quality Photos & Purifiers Plus

Jan Gladson- Whispering Waters Resort

Jane Aschewitz and a few that I didn’t get their names (sorry). I would like to thank everyone that made it to the annual dinner; your attendance was greatly appreciated.

Some of the things that happened at the annual meeting & dinner are I’m your President and Ron Sugden was voted in for his second term on the board thanks Ron for volunteering your time again to OTCTA, he is also your Vice President this year and Evie Roehl will be the board Secretary and Treasurer during her final year on the board.

We talked about some of the things that happened over the last year, website updates and redesign, sport shows, the vacation guide (the Midweek is publishing it this year), marketing, the internets importance, OTCTA logo and more, one of my favorite things was seeing the winning pictures from this years photo contest be sure to look for them in the vacation guide, Fair Hills Resort had the winning photo from the OTCTA membership.

The OTCTA has a monthly meeting on the 1st Monday of every month at the Otter Supper Club EVERYONE is welcome to come and voice their ideas and opinions, I would love to see more members than just the board at them. If you are thinking of joining OTCTA and would like find out what we are all about just drop by.

If there is something that you would like the OTCTA board and/or membership to know about feel free to give me or any board member a call or you can email the information also, ( my email info@fishrushlake.com) we all love to get input from the membership.

I’m looking forward to another great year as your President this will be my last year on the board. We are always looking for people to volunteer their time to help out OTCTA. Volunteers are what make OTCTA so wonderful they help every business in Ottertail Country survive; it’s what makes this association work as that’s how for over 32 years we keep being able to provide such fantastic service promoting all of the Ottertail Country Tourism area. If you can help out we would love to have you. The old saying of 2 heads is better than 1 works for me just like the more the merrier, so I hope to see you at the monthly meeting.

2008 Sport Show Update

The Sport shows are under way here’s what I know

Minnesota's Sportsmen's Boat, Camping & Vacation Show RiverCentre. St. Paul 38th Annual January 9-13, 2008

St Paul 5 day show attendance was very low with the exception on Saturday it picked back up only 750 OTCTA Vacation Guides were given out this year down a few hundred from years past. I was told that a lot of people didn’t want to carry the handouts and jotted down the web site address to check out when they got home.

We had 26 OTCTA members that sent handouts to the show. If you didn’t you still can make the next shows get them to me in time.

River City Hunting & Fishing Expo, Mid America center, Council Bluffs IA January 18-20, 2008 (put on by the local Pheasants Forever chapter)

Council Bluffs 3 day show, this was the first year that OTCTA went to this show and attendance was great every day. We are the only Tourism Association and/or Group at the show over 900 OTCTA Vacation Guides were handed out.

We had 28 OTCTA members send handouts to the show. Don’t miss this great opportunity to get your business in front of potential customers at the next show.

The Next show is St. Cloud Sportsmen's Show St. Cloud Civic Center 20th Annual February 15-17,  2008
